Eid al-Adha means various arrangements for seasonal food and sacrificial meat. However, eating excess meat during this time of joy can be harmful to the body. Experts say that eating meat in moderation is healthy, taking into account age, weight and physical condition.

According to nutritionist Md. Iqbal Hossain, people unknowingly eat more meat than necessary during Eid. This creates the risk of digestive problems, increased cholesterol, increased blood pressure or diabetes going out of control.

How much meat should be eaten in a day
An adult of normal weight can eat up to about 350 grams of meat a day. However, if there is any other protein in the diet, the amount of meat should be reduced. It is better to eat it with vegetables and salads rather than eating too much at once.

Experts advise that the nutritional value of meat remains more intact if cooked in a covered container at low heat and for a short time.

Warning for kidney patients
Kidney patients should eat less red meat. Chicken meat is comparatively better than beef or lamb. If you want to eat beef, you should cook it with less salt and avoid broth. Along with this, pulses and seeds should also be limited.

Heart disease and high blood pressure
If you have heart disease, high blood pressure or cholesterol problems, it is better to eat less beef. You should discard the white fat of the meat and eat it in small quantities. Chicken or duck meat without the skin is relatively safe.

What to follow in diabetes
Diabetic patients should eat less oily and fatty foods. Experts have advised eating it in moderation because beef is high in fat. Because excess fat can increase blood sugar levels and cholesterol.

If you have uric acid
Those with high uric acid should avoid beef, liver, brain, intestines and feet. If it is under control, meat can be eaten in small quantities.

Some ways to reduce the risk

• Remove the white fat from meat
• Eat meat without broth
• Eat in small quantities
• Try to eat meat at noon instead of at night
• Choose grilled or low-oil cooked meat
• Keep foods like tomatoes, salad, and lemon with you
• Take a light rest after eating

If you want to lose weight
Those who want to lose weight should eat limited amounts of beef and mutton. Using papaya or pineapple with meat cooks it faster and takes less time to cook.

According to experts, the idea that ‘eating more than one day does nothing’ is not right. Excess calories can accumulate in the body and cause various complications. Therefore, it is important to maintain the habit of eating in moderation even during the joy of Eid.
