EC asks regional election officers, district administrators to maintain electoral environment
The Election Commission (EC) has sent a letter to divisional commissioners, regional election officers, district administrators and returning officers to maintain the electoral environment during the pre-election period on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election.
A letter signed by EC Secretariat Deputy Secretary (Election Management-2 Branch) Mohammad Monir Hossain was issued on Sunday.
The letter said that the schedule for the 13th National Parliament Election and referendum was announced on December 11. According to the schedule, the elections will be held on February 12, 2026.
According to this source, according to Rule 18 of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2025, election campaigning can be done from three weeks before the polling to 48 hours before the start of polling, subject to compliance with the prescribed conditions.
Outside the stated time frame, celebrations of national and international days and religious, social and other events may be organized without disturbing the electoral environment and in compliance with the electoral environment and the conditions of the aforementioned code of conduct.
In organizing events, the consent or permission of the concerned Returning Officer must be obtained.
