EC declares Bogura-6 seat vacant
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman had contested from both Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6 constituencies in the 13th parliamentary election. After winning, the Election Commission has declared the Bogura-6 seat vacant as he has opted to retain the Dhaka-17 seat.
EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed formally declared the seat vacant through a gazette notification on Monday, February 16.
The gazette stated that as elected candidate Tarique Rahman from constituency 41 Bogura-6 and 190 Dhaka-17 has expressed his intention to retain the Dhaka-17 seat under Article 71(2)(a) of the constitution, the Bogura-6 seat is hereby declared vacant from February 16.
Tarique Rahman won from both constituencies in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Meanwhile, BNP has secured a massive majority in parliament by winning 212 seats.
