EC issues 7 guidelines for candidates to appeal rejected nominations

The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday issued seven directives for candidates whose nomination papers have been rejected or suspended ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Returning officers completed the scrutiny of nomination papers on Sunday (January 4, 2026).

The seven guidelines for filing appeals are: Appeals must be submitted to the EC in memorandum form using the prescribed format; The appeal must include the date of nomination acceptance or rejection, a statement of reasons for the appeal, and a certified copy of the relevant nomination acceptance or rejection order; One original and six copies of the appeal must be submitted; Appeals must be submitted at the designated booth of the respective region at the EC’s appeal submission centres; Appeals can be filed from January 5 to January 9, 2026; Requests for copies of the appeal authority’s decision or verdict must be submitted using the prescribed form, which can be collected from the central booths at the EC; The candidate or an authorised representative may collect the copy of the appeal decision.

The EC has set up 10 booths at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon for appeal submission. The booths are assigned by region as follows:

Booth 1: Khulna region –Meherpur, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Jhinaidah, Jessore, Magura, Narail, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira

Booth 2: Rajshahi region –Joypurhat, Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Rajshahi, Natore, Sirajganj, Pabna

Booth 3: Rangpur region –Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha

Booth 4: Chattogram region – Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban

Booth 5: Cumilla region –Brahmanbaria, Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur

Booth 6: Sylhet region – Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj

Booth 7: Dhaka region – Tangail, Kishoreganj, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Dhaka, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Narayanganj

Booth 8: Mymensingh region – Jamalpur, Sherpur, Mymensingh, Netrokona

Booth 9: Barishal region –Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Jhalokathi, Pirojpur

Booth 10: Faridpur region – Rajbari, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Shariatpur

Candidates are advised to follow the guidelines closely to ensure their appeals are accepted.
