EC orders removal of banners, posters within 48 hours

The Election Commission (EC) has directed that all banners, festoons, billboards and other pre-campaign materials be removed within 48 hours of the election schedule announcement.

In a letter issued by the EC’s Election Management Wing, Local Government Division authorities have been instructed to ensure that City Corporations, Municipalities and Union Parishads take necessary action.

According to the letter, potential candidates must remove all posters, banners, wall writings, gates, arches, pandals and lighting—along with any campaign camps—at their own expense within the stipulated timeframe.

The EC stated that failure to comply by at 6:00pm of December 13 will result in punitive action under the electoral code of conduct.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah confirmed that enforcement measures will follow for any violations.
