The Election Commission (EC) has suspended the transfer order of 21 field-level election officers in line with a High Court order. The EC's Manpower Management Wing issued a notification in this regard on Monday (November 10).

Earlier, in a separate notification on Saturday, transfer orders were issued to 21 election officers and two upazila election officers until further orders. It was also asked to implement the order issued in the public interest immediately.

However, after filing a writ in the High Court, the EC suspended the transfer notification on Monday and issued a new order.

Monday's notification said that the status quo was maintained in the order of the Appellate Division CPLA No. 3811/25 dated October 6 regarding the judgment of the Honorable High Court Division Writ Petition No. 8834/2023, and the transfer/posting notification of the Election Commission Secretariat dated November 8 was suspended. This order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.

The Election Commission has started a reorganization process in its field offices with a view to announcing the election schedule in the first half of December and conducting the polls in the first half of February. As part of this, more than a hundred officials have already been transferred.
