Efforts are continuing to resume Indian tourist visas, which remain suspended for Bangladeshi citizens, Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Pranay Verma has said.

He made this remark in response to a question from journalists after a meeting with Prime Minister's Economic Adviser Rashid Al Mahmood Titumir at the Secretariat on Monday, March 16.

The Indian High Commissioner said, "Efforts to resume visas are continuing. When visas are resumed, it will be announced."

Earlier this month, the Indian High Commissioner had stated that visa processes between India and Bangladesh would normalise very soon.

Responding to another question, Pranay Verma said discussions were held with the adviser on ongoing projects in Bangladesh and potential areas for future cooperation. Talks also covered electricity and energy connectivity.

Pranay Verma said there is cross-border electricity and energy connectivity between the two countries. Ways to further strengthen that cooperation were also discussed today.

He noted that these connections can foster better economic ties between the two countries not only in the present but also in the long term.
