The country is currently being ran by an interim government, which has created uncertainty among investors, said newly elected BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu.

According to him, an elected government must be formed quickly to revive and stabilize the economy.

He spoke to reporters at a view-sharing meeting organized at Shahid Palace Hotel in Chuadanga town on Monday (June 9) evening.

Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu said: “The current political situation has left investors in a dilemma. As a result, interest in establishing new industries or expanding businesses has decreased. If a stable government is formed through an acceptable election, investment will increase, employment will be created and the country’s economy will also revive.”

He also said that there are plans to set up a garment training center in Chuadanga, where employment opportunities will be created by improving the skills of local unemployed youth. After the training, initiatives will be taken to send these workers to work in various garment companies.

Also present at the exchange of views were Shahid Group Managing Director and BDCHAM President Alhaj Shahiduzzaman Torik, Zaman Group MD Alhaj Asaduzzaman Asad, Chuadanga Press Club President Rajib Hasan Kochi, General Secretary Bipul Ashraf, journalist leader Sardar Al Amin, Chief Editor of Dainik Shomro Simikaran Nazmul Haque Swapan, journalist Hussain Malik and local media workers.
