The Election Commission (EC) will meet President Mohammed Shahabuddin at 12:00pm on December 10 to discuss matters related to the schedules for the national election and the referendum. The President’s Assistant Private Secretary, Md. Sagor Hossain, confirmed the meeting to the media on Thursday (December 4). Earlier, the EC had formally requested an appointment with the President to seek guidance regarding the election and referendum schedules. EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the commission requested a meeting on either December 10 or 11 to obtain necessary instructions before finalising the schedules.

১০ ডিসেম্বর দুপুর ১২টায় রাষ্ট্রপতির সঙ্গে নির্বাচন কমিশনের সাক্ষাৎ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। জাতীয় নির্বাচন ও গণভোটের তপশিল নিয়ে এই সাক্ষাৎ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। বৃহস্পতিবার রাষ্ট্রপতির সহকারী একান্ত সচিব মোহাম্মদ সাগর হোসেন গণমাধ্যমকে এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। এর আগে নির্বাচন কমিশনের পক্ষ থেকে রাষ্ট্রপতির সাক্ষাৎ চেয়ে আনুষ্ঠানিক চিঠি দেওয়া হয়েছিল। এ বিষয়ে ইসির জ্যেষ্ঠ সচিব আখতার আহমেদ বলেন, জাতীয় নির্বাচন ও গণভোটের তপশিল নিয়ে নির্দেশনা চাইতে ১০ অথবা ১১ ডিসেম্বর রাষ্ট্রপতির সাক্ষাৎ চেয়ে ওই চিঠি দিয়েছিল নির্বাচন কমিশন।
