The Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, originally set to begin on June 6 in Sri Lanka, has been postponed by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The decision was made in light of adverse weather conditions and health risks.

Shammi De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, confirmed the ACC’s decision, citing the ongoing rainy season in parts of Sri Lanka and an outbreak of chikungunya as key factors.

The Sri Lankan board formally requested the postponement, and the ACC has pledged to reschedule and host the tournament at a later date.

Mohsin Nawaz, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and current ACC president, emphasized the council’s commitment to developing young women cricketers and providing competitive opportunities. “We recognize the importance of this tournament and aim to announce a new schedule soon,” he said.
