Aminul Hakim elected IIGAB president, Ahmed Junayed secretary general

Aminul Hakim has been elected as the new president of the executive committee of the International Internet Gateway Association of Bangladesh (IIGAB) for the period of 2024-2026 while Ahmed Junayed as the Secretary General.

Prominent professionals from the internet and telecommunications sector contested in the recently concluded IIGAB election.

The newly elected 11 members of the IIGAB executive committee for the 2024-26 term are: Aminul Hakim (BD Hub Limited) as President; Ahmed Junayed (Level Three Carriers Limited) as Secretary General; Mohammad Salam (Sky Tel Communication Limited) as Senior Vice President, Mainul Haque Siddiqui (Fiber@Home Global Limited) as Vice President; Saiful Siddiqui (PeerX Network Limited) as Vice President; Maktabur Rahman (Intraglobe Communications Limited) as Joint Secretary; and Ziaul Haque (ADN International Gateway Limited) as Treasurer while Khalid Hasan (Startrek Telecom Limited), Md Hasibur Rashid (Novocom Limited), Md Khalid Raihan (Summit Communications Limited), and Sarafatullah Zahid (Mango Teleservices Limited) have been elected as Director.

The newly elected members of the IIGAB said that they are ready to address the industry's key challenges, advocate for favourable policies and enhance collaboration with national and international partners.

Their agenda includes developing internet infrastructure, promoting cyber security and ensuring affordable and reliable internet services for all citizens.

Newly elected IIGAB President Aminul Hakim told the Views Bangladesh, “We are committed to building a strong and innovative internet ecosystem in Bangladesh. In a bid to facilitate the implementation of the government’s Smart Bangladesh vision, our focus will be on leveraging technological advances, driving policy reforms and improving user experience to meet the changing needs of our digital society."

IIGAB, as the representative body of internet gateway operators in Bangladesh, plays an important role in shaping the future of Internet connectivity and digital transformation. New EC members with diverse backgrounds and expertise are all set to lead the Association in achieving its strategic goals.
