Asia Cup and India’s Bangladesh tour on verge of cancellation
The military tension between India and Pakistan has now dealt a heavy blow to cricket. Due to the state of war, the IPL has been suspended for a week. In this situation, both India's Bangladesh tour and the Asia Cup may be canceled. According to a report by Times of India, the BCCI wants to use the time of these two series in August-September to finish the remaining part of the IPL.
According to the FTP schedule, India was supposed to play three ODIs and three T20s in Bangladesh in August. The Asia Cup was also supposed to be held in September, hosted by India. However, according to the agreement, the hybrid model for Pakistan's matches was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka. But due to the deteriorating relations between the two countries because of the war, there is now a question mark over the hosting of the Asia Cup. The BCCI is disinterested in these series.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan is also uncertain. The Tigers were supposed to travel to Pakistan this month to play a five-match T20 series. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is concerned about security issues. There were also two practice matches scheduled in Sharjah, but with the PSL being moved to the UAE, those plans are now uncertain. Bangladesh was scheduled to play a series against the UAE on May 17 and 19.
