Bangladesh advances to U-19 women’s Asia Cup final
Bangladesh, after clinching the U-19 Men’s Asia Cup, has now secured a spot in the final of the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup.
The junior Tigresses defeated Nepal by 9 wickets in the final Super Four match of the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup, held in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (December 20).
Rain reduced the match at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur to 11 overs. Batting first, Nepal managed 54 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted overs. Farjana Easmin, Anisa Akter, Fahomida Choya, and Habiba Islam claimed one wicket each for Bangladesh, while three Nepali batters were run out.
In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target in 9.5 overs, losing only one wicket. Fahomida Choya, who remained unbeaten on 26 runs and took 1 wicket for 14 runs, was named Player of the Match.
During the chase, Fahomida scored 26 runs from 32 balls, including three boundaries. Mosammat Eva added 18 runs, while Sumaiya Akther played a quick cameo of 10 runs off 6 balls, securing an easy victory for Bangladesh with 7 balls remaining.
India tops the Super Four standings with 7 points from 3 wins and 1 abandoned match, while Bangladesh is in second place with 6 points from 3 wins. The two teams will clash in the title decider on Monday. Nepal has 4 points, and Sri Lanka has 3 points.
