Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs in the third and final T20I of the three-match series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. As a result, the visitors clinched the series 2-1.

Chasing 175 target, Bangladesh opener Litton Das returned to the pavilion for just 7 runs. After that, Nuwan Thushara bowled the fourth over of the innings and picked up a hat-trick.

Bangladesh fell into a batting disaster due to the excellent bowling of this Lankan pacer. Thushara completed the hat-trick by dismissing Najmul Hasan Shanto, Tawhid Hriday, and Mahmudullah Riyad.

Thushara also dismissed Soumya Sarkar who scored 11 runs off 10 balls. Zaker Ali Anik (4) could not contribute with the bat today.

However, Rishad Hossain set a new six-hitting record by smashing seven sixes in a 30-ball 53-run knock. He put on a 44-run stand with Mahedi Hasan and a 41-run partnership with Taskin Ahmed to bring down the margin of the defeat. Mahedi got out scoring 19 runs, while Taskin made 31 runs off 21 balls.

Thushara completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Shariful Islam. Thushara was awarded 'Man of the Match' while Kusal Medis won the 'Man of the Series' award.
