In view of the current situation between India and Pakistan, Indian border surveillance has been increased in various states for the last few months.

Initially, the BSF is looking to set up seven new border outposts on the India-Bangladesh water border in the area adjacent to the Sundarbans.

Last week, along with increasing surveillance on the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, a night curfew was imposed for two months. In addition, surveillance has also been increased on the land and near transborder river areas with Bangladesh. As part of that plan, this time the Indian security forces are looking to increase the number of outposts or border posts in the Sundarbans to prevent infiltration.

Once these new outposts are built, not only will the distance from one outpost to another in the Sundarbans decrease, but surveillance will also be strengthened, said Indian authorities.

A high-level meeting of West Bengal security force officials in this regard has already been completed.

West Bengal has about 157 kilometers of coastal area along the Bangladesh border. Which includes various waterlogged areas of the Sundarbans.

BSF takes care of the security of those areas of the Sundarbans waterlogged border.

They monitor Bangladeshi ships or boats. Even, the BSF sees to it that no one can infiltrate using waterways.

A top BSF official said that 'Smugglers and infiltrators from both countries have been carrying out their work for a long time by taking advantage of the waterways and deep forests of the Sundarbans region.'
