Chuadanga records highest temperature in a decade
Chuadanga has recorded the highest temperature in a decade. The District Meteorological Office recorded a temperature of 43 degree Celsius in the south-western district on Monday (April 29) afternoon, with 13 percent humidity in the air.
This is the highest temperature in the country recorded this year. Earlier on May 21, 2014, the highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga was 43.2 degrees Celsius.
In 2005, Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature of 43 degrees Celsius on June 2. Besides, the highest temperature of Chuadanga was 42.9 degrees Celsius on June 4, 2012.
Moderate, severe and extreme heatwaves have been continuing in the district for almost a month.
Jaminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of meteorological department in Chuadanga, said, “The highest 43 degrees Celsius temperature of the country was recorded at 3:00pm on Monday in Chuadanga. At that time, the air humidity was 13 percent. As the amount of water vapor in the air is very high, scorching heat is prevailing in the entire district.”
“The heatwave will continue till Tuesday (April 30) and there is no chance of rain,” he said, adding, “The farmers, daily labourers and poor people are suffering a lot in the ongoing heatwave. They have to work in extreme heat with risk.”
