District administration takes control of Benazir’s Savannah Resort
The Gopalganj district administration has taken control of 'Savanna Eco Resort and Natural Park', owned by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family members on charges of amassing illegal wealth.
All activities of the park will be open from Saturday morning as per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj.
Earlier on Friday evening, two teams of Gopalganj district administration and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Madaripur and Gopalganj took position in the park. Gopalganj district administration and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) jointly made the announcement at around 11:30 pm.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Babli Shabnam, Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Gopalganj Md Mashiur Rahman, ACC Assistant Director, Sohrab Hossain Sohel and other officials were present during the drive.
Benazir built Savanna Eco Resort and Natural Park on 621 bigha land at Bairagitol village of Gopalganj Sadar upazila during his tenure as Director General of RAB from 2015 to 2020 and IGP from 2020 to 2022.
It has been alleged that almost all the lands in this park was bought by intimidation, force and various tricks from the members of the local Hindu community.
