Exiled writer Taslima Nasrin appeals to Amit Shah to extend stay in India

Exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin's latest post on ‘X’ (formerly Tweeter) has taken social media by storm. Her residence permit to stay in India expired on July 22. Three months have already passed. This controversial Bangladeshi writer may have to leave India any day. Taslima herself has mentioned that fear many times on social media.

Taslima had been in touch with the home ministry of India for a long time by phone and e-mail. But there was no response. Now, Taslima has directly requested Home Minister of India Amit Shah by posting on ‘X’ handle.

She wrote on her X handle, “Dear Amit Shahji, Namasker. I live in India because I love this great country. India has been my second home for the past 20 years. But Ministry of Home Affairs is not renewing my resident permit since last July 22. I am very worried. I would be grateful if you would let me stay. A warm welcome.”

Mentionable, a fatwa was issued against Taslima in Bangladesh in 1994. This writer has been exiled ever since. After living in Europe for a few years, she started living in India. She lived in Kolkata from 2004 to 2007. But after her autobiographical book 'Dwikhandit' was banned, she was forced to leave West Bengal under threats from fundamentalists. She is currently living in Delhi. She got a long-term residence permit which was renewed every year.

Now the writer is very worried because it is not happening recently. Let's see if her post gets any response.
