Hathurusingha suspended, Phil Simmons named interim head coach

After a lot of discussion and criticism, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has suspended head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. Phil Simmons will take over until the Champions Trophy.

BCB president Faruk Ahmed shared this information at an official press conference on Tuesday (October 15).

According to the BCB president, Hathurusingha's suspension is mainly due to misconduct.

Faruk said in the press conference, "We have served him [Hathurusingha] with a showcase notice and suspension from duty as head coach today. Hathusingha has been told to reply to his showcause notice within 48 hours and his suspension will come with immediate effect. After that, his contract will be suspended. Phil Simmons has been named the new interim head coach. He will work until the Champions Trophy."
