Humayun Faridi’s 73rd birth anniv today

Today marks the 73rd birth anniversary of country’s noted actor Humayun Faridi. Born on 29 May at Narinda in Dhaka in 1952, the popular television, films and stage artiste Faridi started his acting career with the stage play “Shakuntala” by Selim Al-Deen.

The acclaimed actor debuted in TV dramas through the play “Nil Nakshar Shandaney” in 1982. He later, acted in numerous dramas. He earned huge popularity in the country with his riveting performance in the drama serail “Shongshoptok”. He played the role of “Kan Kata Ramjan” in the drama.

Faridi also acted in a number of popular films, including “Din-Mojur”, “Shantrash”, “Top Rongbaz”, “Bish Daat”, “Ekattorer Jishu”, “Padma Nadir Majhi”, “Anondo Asru”, “Madam Fuli”, “Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti”, “Joyjatra” and “Matritto”.

He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his lead role in the film “Matritto” in 2004. He was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2018.

Humayun Faridi was first married to Nazmun Ara Begum Minu in 1980, but the couple got separated four years later. Faridi then married prominent actress Subarna Mustafa in 1984 but also got divorced in 2008. He was the son-in-law of prolific actor Golam Mustafa.

This actor passed away on February 12, 2012 after a long battle with chronic lungs disease. In recognition for his contribution, he was rewarded a posthumous Ekushey Padak in 2018.

Humayun Faridi will remain alive in the heart of his fans as one of the greatest actors of all time, for all of his tremendous performances.
