Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo wins Nobel Peace Prize
The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots organization comprising atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in recognition of its efforts “to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.”
The Nobel Institute announced the winner at 11:00 am (local time) on Friday (October 11) in Oslo, Norway.
Nihon Hidankyo, also known as Hibakusha, is an organization that represents survivors of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It has been awarded the Nobel Prize for its compelling advocacy for a world free of nuclear weapons and for shedding light on the horrors of nuclear warfare.
