Liverpool held by Forest, Man City draw with Brentford
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by an in-form Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, despite Diogo Jota's second-half header.
Forest, who had previously beaten Liverpool 1-0 in September, shocked the league leaders early with Chris Wood's goal in the 8th minute. Liverpool, dominant this season, responded in the 66th minute when Jota headed in from a corner. Despite late pressure from Mohamed Salah and Jota, Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels produced key saves, ensuring a hard-earned point for his side.
In another dramatic encounter, Manchester City squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Brentford. City took control with Phil Foden's volley in the 66th minute, followed by a second goal from Foden in the 78th minute. However, Brentford fought back, with Yoane Wissa pulling one back in the 82nd minute and Christian Norgaard completing the comeback with a stoppage-time header, despite goalkeeper Stefan Ortega’s best efforts.
As a result, Liverpool remain at the top of the Premier League with 47 points, six points clear of second-placed Forest, who have 41 points. Manchester City sit in sixth place with 35 points, 12 behind leaders Liverpool, while Brentford climb to 10th.
