March 7 speech in eye witnesses account
On March 7, 1971, at the then Racecourse Maidan, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, delivered a historic speech which was essentially a declaration of independence in an indirect manner. UNESCO has recognized the speech of March 7 as a "Global Authentic Heritage". In a special event organized by "Views Bangladesh", the speeches of four esteemed individuals have highlighted the significance of the March 7 speech. Poet Nirmalendu Goon, literary figure Selina Hossain, historian Syed Anwar Hossain, and educator and former Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique are four prominent personalities in our country at present. Their writings reflect the fiery, dream-laden day of March 7, 1971, the day when the greatest Bengali of a thousand years raised his finger and declared, The struggle of this time is our struggle for freedom...
