Bangladesh suffered a heavy 201-run defeat in the first Test against the West Indies in Antigua. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the stand-in captain of Bangladesh, attributed the loss to a failure in batting.

In the post-match ceremony on Tuesday night, Miraz praised the bowlers, stating, "I think we bowled well. Although Taskin took six wickets, the West Indies built some strong partnerships, with the 140-run partnership being the turning point."

Blaming the batting failure, Miraz said, "We didn't bat well in this match. We made some mistakes, but that's part of the game. Such things happen. We need to improve, and we’ll have discussions among ourselves to perform better in the next match. We struggled with batting in both innings of this Test."

The second and final Test between the two teams is set to begin in Kingston on November 30.
