Navalny buried at Borisovskoye cemetery

Alexei Navalny was buried at the Borisov Cemetery on the outskirts of Moscow. The death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, a staunch critic of President Vladimir Putin, remains a mystery. A large number of people defied the fear of arrest to pay their respects at Navalny's final farewell on Friday.

According to BBC, the 46-year-old opposition leader died in solitary confinement in a Siberian prison on February 16. Russian authorities say Navalny died of natural causes in prison. However, family and supporters allege that Navalny was killed in prison. The United States reacted strongly to this death.

Navalny's body was first taken out of a church southeast of the capital Moscow on Friday by hearse. The funeral was then held there. Strict security measures were taken in the city.

Many people who came to bid farewell to Navalny were seen chanting slogans. They also chanted that Russian authorities will not be forgiven for Navalny's death in prison.

Navalny's father Anatoly and mother Lyudmila attended the funeral.
