Pakistan claims killing of 50 Indian soldiers amid escalating border tensions
Pakistan has claimed that its forces killed up to 50 Indian soldiers and destroyed several military installations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, intensifying hostilities between the two countries.
“We have killed 40 to 50 Indian soldiers and destroyed their military installations along the de facto border,” said Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Thursday morning.
The announcement follows a vow by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to retaliate for Indian missile strikes a day earlier, which Islamabad says killed at least 31 people. Sharif had pledged revenge for “every drop” of blood spilled.
India’s Defence Ministry, however, denied its facilities were hit and said it had “neutralized” Pakistani attempts to strike multiple military targets overnight. New Delhi also revealed it had launched Operation Sindoor, a continued military offensive that included strikes on Pakistani air defence radars and systems.
In a related statement, Pakistan said it had shot down 25 Indian drones targeting its military installations, calling the incursions a “serious provocation” and warning India of consequences.
Tensions remain high as both sides exchange conflicting claims, raising fears of further escalation in the volatile Kashmir region.
