Palak promises laptops for women trainees in Cox's Bazar

State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has promised to provide laptops to women trainees of "Her Power Project: Empowerment of Women through Technology (1st Revision)", being implemented to ensure sustainable empowerment of women as entrepreneurs through best and safe use of information technology.

He gave this assurance while inspecting the ongoing training programme of women trainees in Cox's Bazar under 'Her Power' project on Thursday (July 4) afternoon.

Palak said, "We are implementing the 'Her Power' project under the Information and Communication Technology Division as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the advice and guidance of Prime Minister's ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy to create 25,000 women entrepreneurs. At the end of training, women entrepreneurs are being gifted one laptop each by the Prime Minister."

He said, "If we can expand it further in the future, then it will be possible to give the school students an opportunity to use the resources of the Sheikh Russell Digital Lab after the class time, and also give the teachers an opportunity for freelancing training."

In response to the questions of the journalists, the state minister said, "During the tenure of the current government, we will create 10 lakh new jobs in the IT sector. Besides, to ensure women employment, the 'Har Power-2' project will be taken up in the future, continuing to create employment for about one and a half lakh young women."

He also said that the 'Her Power' project will play an important role in creating smart women entrepreneurs to fulfill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dream of building a smart Bangladesh by 2041.

Later, the state minister inspected the ongoing test activities at Cox's Bazar Airport area to verify the quality of mobile operators' networks.
