Poet Suhita Sultana received Mahakabi Madhusudan Padak
The poet Suhita Sultana received the Mohakobi Madhusudan Padak in the Creative Literature (Poetry) category. This poet, deserving of contemplative literary talent, has been awarded this accolade for her poetry collection titled 'Shreshtha Kavita'.
On the evening of last Thursday (January 25), on the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of the poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta, an interactive session, award ceremony, and cultural event were organized by the Jashore district commission at Sagar Dari Madhumancha. In this event, she was honored with this award.
The chief guest at the event was Helal Mahmud Sharif, Commissioner of Khulna Division. The chairperson for the program was Mohammad Abraul Hasan Majumdar, the district Commissioner of Jashore. The special guests included Biplob Kanti Biswas, Civil Surgeon of Jashore, Additional Police Super Firoz Kabir, Mayor Rafiqul Islam Moral of Keshabpur Municipality, Swami Gyanprakashananda, Principal of Jashore Ramakrishna Ashram and Mission, and retired professor Dr. Mustafizur Rahman.
At the event, the critics included Khandakar Khasru Parvez, the director of Keshabpur Madhusudan Academy, Dr. Abul Kalam Azad Litu, the General secretary of Jashore Institute, Deepankar Das Ratan, the president of the Jela Shommilito Sangskritik jot and Kazi Shawkat Shahi.
Before the discussion, artists from various cultural organizations in Jashore city and Keshabpur presented musical performances.
Udichi Jessore Theater Canvas staged play at the program. Then the play 'Sharmishtha' was staged by Jessore Shilpakala Academy. After that, the Yatrapala 'Jivan Nadi Teere' was staged on, produced by Magura Sarathi Kalyan Foundation.
Poet Suhita Sultana was born on September 19, 1965, in Shankarpur, Jashore Sadar Upazila. In her professional life, she is associated with various notable roles related to book development at the National Book Centre in Dhaka, serving as the Deputy Director. Besides her proficiency in the Bengali language, she is also versed in Norwegian, Russian and Hindi languages.
