Poet Suhita Sultana receiving Madhusudan Padak
This year, poet Suhita Sultana is receiving the Michael Madhusudan Award. She has been selected for the award in the creative literature (poetry) category for her book 'Sreshttho Kobita.'
On Thursday (January 25), at 6:00 PM, an official ceremony will be held at the Madhumanch, at Madhumela premises in Sagardari, Keshabpur Upazila, Jessore, where she will be awarded this prize.
The chief guest at the Mahakavi Madhusudan Award ceremony will be Khulna Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Helal Mahmud Sharif. The event will be chaired by Mohammad Abraul Haque Majumdar, the District Commissioner of Jessore district.
The prestigious award is given annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to creative literature and research work on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Mohakobi Michael Madhusudan.
Poet Suhita Sultana was born on September 19, 1965, in Jessore. She is the second child of Sheikh Borhan Uddin Ahmed and Syeda Rebeka Sultana. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Bengali language and literature from Rajshahi University. Currently, she is associated with the National Book Centre and has been involved in various significant research projects related to book development.
In 2009, her brother, poet Rezauddin Stalin, also received the Michael Madhusudan Award. Thus, two talented individuals from the same family achieved this prestigious award.
