Shafiq Rehman gets bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to journalist Shafiq Rehman, who was convicted in a case over kidnapping and attempted murder of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Zakir Hossain passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier on October 3, the court granted bail to Mahmudur Rahman, the former acting editor of Amar Desh, in this case.

Mahmudur Rahman, who was sentenced to prison in this case, surrendered to the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) on September 29 seeking bail. Later, the court denied him bail and sent him to jail.
