Solo poetry evening by poet Soumya Salek in Kolkata
A solo poetry evening by Bangladeshi poet Soumya Salek was held on Thursday (December 7) at the YMCA building in College Street, Kolkata.
Palak Publishers, a creative publishing house, organized the event in association with Art and literature magazine 'Nabankur' and 'Alap TV'.
Poet TanmAy Mondal delivered the welcome speech in the the event. He said, 'Not only Soumya Salek, any Bangali poet is a poet of Bangla language. Irrespective of the geographical location of the world where he is writing, he is actually increasing the comfort of Bangla language. Therefore, it is our honor and pride to call Soumya the poet of Bangla language instead of the poet of Bangladesh.
After the welcome speech, poet Soumya Salek recited a series of poems. He also expressed his various experiences and feelings about poetry. Poet Sanjay Kumar Mukherjee presided over the function.
Poet and lyricist Saraswat performed the opening song. Pratip Halder presented a special gift to the poet on behalf of Palak Publishers.
Poet Soumya Salek's statement that 'fences could not divide Bangla language and love' comes out strongly through his poems.
Pradyut Mondal and Samrat Chakraborty performed music in the event.
Poet Soumya Salek was born on February 27, 1987 in Chandpur district. He did his Masters in Accountancy from Victoria College, Comilla. His nine books have already been published. He has received several awards and honors so far in recognition of his art and literature. Currently, he is working as a cultural officer in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
