Soumya creates unexpected record in T20 WC
Bangladesh makes a good start in the T20 World Cup, clinching victory against Sri Lanka. Nazmul Hasan Shanto's team secured a nail-biting win by 2 wickets, turning what seemed like an easy match into a challenging contest.
However, on the day of triumph, Soumya Sarkar unexpectedly claimed a unique record by being dismissed without scoring any runs. As a result, in international cricket, no player currently has more 'ducks' than the Bangladeshi batsman.
Soumya has now accumulated 13 ducks in T20 Internationals, matching Ireland's Paul Stirling's count of 13 ducks in his twenty-over career. Together, they jointly hold the record for the highest number of ducks (0) in T20 Internationals.
This marks Soumya's fourth duck (0) in the T20 World Cup, placing him as the second-highest duck holder in the tournament's history. The record for the most ducks by a batsman in the T20 World Cup stands at five, shared by Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka and Shahid Afridi of Pakistan.
