The frequent workers' protests are turning Gazipur into a battlefield day by day. As soon as one factory protest ends, another begins at a different factory. This has made life in Gazipur nightmarish for its residents. Because workers' protests mean road blockades. This has been the regular scene in Gazipur for the past one and a half to two months. According to a report published in the newspaper on Monday (November 18), workers from another factory in Gazipur have turned the streets into a battlefield with clashes and fires.

According to sources from workers, local residents, and the police, like the past two days, on Monday workers of Beximco started a protest by blocking the road in the Chakraborty area of Gazipur city since morning. As a result, at least 20 factories in the surrounding area declared a holiday. Additionally, the Dorin Fashion Limited factory in the Panishail area had been closed indefinitely by the authorities since November 1. Although the factory was reopened on Sunday, it was given a holiday in the afternoon.

This morning, the workers of Dorin Fashion Limited found a notice posted at their factory announcing its indefinite closure when they arrived to join work. Upon seeing the notice, the workers began protesting, demanding the reopening of the factory. At one point, they staged a blockade at the Zirani area on the Chandra-Nabinagar road. At the same time, workers of the Beximco factory were also protesting and blocking the road at different locations along the same route.

Around 11:30 AM, an altercation occurred between the workers of Dorin Fashion and Beximco factories. Eventually, this led to a clash, with the workers chasing each other and engaging in conflict. At least five workers were injured in the scuffle. The injured workers have received treatment at a local clinic.

The workers entered the Panishail and Koltasuti areas and beat up the local residents. This enraged the locals, who chased the workers. A three-way chase ensued for some time. During this, some workers from Dorin Fashion and Beximco set fire to a factory named Amazon Knitwear in the East Koltasuti area. Upon receiving the news, the industrial police, local police, and army personnel arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

Reading the news, one might think that a war has broken out between the two countries. However, the incident is actually insignificant. It all began when a factory announced its indefinite closure without any prior notice. The question is, why is the factory management doing this? We know that the owner of the Beximco company is Salman F. Rahman, who is currently in jail. Could this be a move to create anarchy centering the situation? Since the people's uprising, labor protests have started, and the current interim government is unable to control them. If this continues, the country will become increasingly unstable.

This labor protest is causing significant damage to the country's industries and factories. The public is also suffering immensely. The most important issue is that the country's global image is being severely tarnished. Therefore, we demand that this labor protest must be stopped immediately, no matter what. One thing must be remembered: by provoking the workers, the factory owners will not benefit, nor will the country. It is essential to investigate whose interests are being served by the prolonged duration of this protest.
