Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman congratulated Donald Trump for being elected as the President of the United States for the second term. In a congratulatory message posted on his verified Facebook page, he said, "We look forward to a future of stronger relations and cooperation between our two countries." Tarique Rahman said, "This victory is a reflection of America's strong democratic process." The people of Bangladesh are keen to move forward with free and fair elections with strengthening their commitment towards democratic values and fundamental freedoms, he added.

দ্বিতীয় মেয়াদে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রেসিডেন্ট নির্বাচিত হওয়ায় ডোনাল্ড জে ট্রাম্পকে অভিনন্দন জানিয়েছেন বিএনপি'র ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান দেশনায়ক তারেক রহমান। নিজের ভেরিফায়েড ফেসবুক পেজে আজ বুধবার এক অভিনন্দন বার্তায় তিনি বলেন, ‘আমরা আমাদের দুই দেশের মধ্যে জোরদার সম্পর্ক ও সহযোগিতার ভবিষ্যতের দিকে তাকিয়ে আছি।’ তারেক রহমান বলেন, এই বিজয় আমেরিকার শক্তিশালী গণতান্ত্রিক প্রক্রিয়ার প্রতিফলন। তারেক রহমান বলেন, বাংলাদেশের মানুষ নিজেদের স্বাধীন ও সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়া নিয়ে এগিয়ে যেতে এবং অভিন্ন গণতান্ত্রিক মূল্যবোধ ও মৌলিক স্বাধীনতার প্রতি অঙ্গীকার দৃঢ় করতে আগ্রহী।
