The reason why Inu loses, Suman wins
The two most unexpected events that happened in January 7 elections are—the defeat of former information minister and Jasad President Hasanul Haque Inu and the victory of Barrister Sayedul Haque Suman. Inu suffered defeat in Kushtia-2 seat with the boat symbol. He lost the race to local upazila chairman Kamarul Arifin while Awami League candidate State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali conceded defeat to independent contender Barrister Suman. Ever since the announcement of the results, there has been a lot of discussion on social media about Inu's defeat and Suman's victory.
Hasanul Haque Inu had earlier won from this seat three times with the boat symbol. There was no Awami League candidate against him on those three elections. This time, Mirpur Upazila unit Awami League General Secretary and Upazila Chairman Kamarul Arifin became an independent candidate against him. Ever since he became a candidate, a large part of the local Awami League men campaigned for him. Meanwhile, the local Awami League leaders complained against Hasanul Haque Inu that he did not maintain good relations with the party leaders and workers even after being elected with the boat symbol. Instead, he created distance in various ways. That distance has pushed him to defeat in this election. Through this, it has been proved once again that it is not possible for Inu to win with only his image and the ability of the party without the active support of Awami League. This defeat can lead to the end of the chapter in the colorful political career of Hasanul Haque Inu, one of the heavyweights in Bangladesh politics.
On the other hand, Barrister Suman who won in Habiganj-4 seat was the central leader of Chhatra League. He started the new chapter of his political career by protesting the dumping of garbage on the roadside. He started live from a Facebook page. His posts to create social awareness, have been accepted by thousands of people and he started getting appreciation immediately when he went live or posted a video on Facebook. It did not take long for him to take the number of his fans to exceed ten lakhs. Gradually this Suman became popular and famous. When Suman realized that people started loving him, he tried to win more people's hearts. Suman has been successful.
After winning the election, Barrister Suman said in his speech addressing the general public: "No one should call me MP."
“Those who are older than me will call me Suman, and those who are younger will call me bhai. Even if I become the chief guest at any event, don't put a big chair there for me. Keep the same chair for me as the others get.”
He also said that he will clean the dying waterbody to serve the people. He will remove all the dirt from the market and will buy footballs for the local kids worth Tk5 lakh when he returns home after the oath. This statement boosted his popularity after the election.
