Tigress need 194 runs to secure series victory against Ireland
Bangladesh women’s cricket team requires 194 runs to clinch the series after bowling out the Irish women’s team for 193 runs in the second One-Day International at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
The Irish team, winning the toss, opted to bat first. They quickly found themselves under pressure as both openers were dismissed early in the 10 overs. However, a resilient 91-run partnership between captain Amy Hunter and Orla Prendergast stabilized the innings for Ireland. Prendergast scored 37 before being dismissed at 126 runs, and soon after, captain Amy Hunter was dismissed for a well-made 68, leaving Ireland at 127/4.
Ireland’s innings then fell apart, despite efforts from Laura Delaney (33) and Raymond Hoey (21), finishing with a total of 193 runs.
The Bangladesh bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings, with Sultana Khatun leading the attack by taking 2 wickets for 32 runs from 10 overs. Nahida Akhtar also contributed with 1 wicket for 32 runs, while leg-spinner Swarna was economical, claiming 1 wicket for just 6 runs in 4 overs.
With the target set at 194 runs, Bangladesh’s Tigers now look to complete the chase and secure the series win in front of their home crowd.
