UAE road accident kills 5 Bangladeshis

Five Bangladeshis were killed in a road accident at Ajman province of the United Arab Emirates.

The accident happened around 10:30am on Sunday (July 7) Bangladesh time. The expatriate deceased have been identified as Md Rana (30), son of Lutfar Rahman from Balenga village of Nawabganj; Md Rashed (32), son of Abdul Hakim; Md Raju (24), son of Sheikh Irshad; Ibadul Islam (34), son of Sheikh Ibrahim and Md. Hira Mia (22), son of Md Manju from Dohar Bazar in Nawabganj.

Zillur Rahman, president of Bangladesh Business Council of Ajman, said, “The five expatriates were going to Abu Dhabi for work at around 7:30am local time. Meanwhile, the car they were riding on met with an accident in the Sahama area of Abu Dhabi road, killing five people on the spot.”

“Among the deceased, four were from Balenga village under Jaykrishnapur union of Nawabganj and one from Dohar Bazar area of Dohar upazila,” he added.

BM Jamal Hossain, consul general of Bangladesh Consulate in UAE, said, “I have learned about the accident. The consulate is contacting the local administration for more details on the matter.”
