The 97th Academy Awards, the most prestigious award in world cinema, will be held on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. There has been a lot of speculation about who will win the Oscars this time. The BBC and the American magazine Rolling Stone have already published reports on the matter. Let's see who will win the Oscars this time, according to those reports.

Best Movie

Netflix's crime musical ‘Emilia Perez’ has received the most nominations for the best movie at the Oscars this year. The movie has been nominated in 13 categories. The movie even won the Best Movie award in the Musical-Comedy category at the Golden Globe Awards. So, the movie has a high chance of being the best in the Oscar race.

But according to a BBC report, the movie 'Emilia Perez' may not win the Oscar even if it gets more nominations. Because movies that have received more Oscar nominations before, like ‘’The Irishman’, ‘Mank’, ‘The Power of the Dog’, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, did not get that many Oscars compared to their nominations. And the movie 'Conclave' is being considered as a competitor to Emilia Perez in the list of best movies at the Oscars. 'Conclave', directed by Edward Berger, also won the Best Picture award at the BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards. It is based on the novel 'Conclave' published in 2016 by Robert Harris. Also, 'Anora' (winner of the Palme d'Or) directed by Sean Baker and 'The Brutalist' directed by Brady Corbett are also in the list of best films.

Best Actress

This year, the Best Actress nominations for the Oscars are - Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Carla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Perez), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here).

Demi Moore is leading the race for the Oscar after winning the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress for her performance in 'The Substance'. But Mikey Madison will compete with Demi Moore as a strong competitor. Mikey Madison won the Best Actress award at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) for her performance in the movie 'Anora' and her performance was also widely praised. Rolling Stone also put Mikey Madison ahead in their report.

Best Actor

The Oscar nominees for Best Actor are Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Rafe Feige (Conclave), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice).

The leading contender for Best Actor is ‘The Pianist’ actor Adrien Brody. He previously won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in ‘The Pianist’. He has already won the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actor for his role in ‘The Brutalist.’

According to the BBC, Adrien Brody is the favourite to win the Oscar. However, Timothée Chalamet is in a strong position in the race for Best Actor after playing a young Bob Dylan in the film ‘A Complete Unknown.’ He recently won the Best Actor award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Best Director

Five people have been nominated for Best Director at the Oscars this time. They are - Shane Baker (Anora), Brady Corbett (The Brutalist), James Mangold (A Completely Unknown), Jacques Andier (Emilia Perez), Coralie Forget (The Substance).

It is known that Brady Corbett, the director of 'The Brutalist', has already won the Golden Globe Award and the BAFTA Award for Best Director. So, this time he is the most likely to be the best at the Oscars.

Best Supporting Actress

Joey Saldana is the most likely to win the Oscar as a supporting actress. She has won the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award for ‘Emilia Perez’. So, it is believed that she will be the best supporting actress. However, the possibility of Isabella Rossellini winning an Oscar for the movie ‘Conclave’ cannot be ruled out.

Best Supporting Actor

Kieran Culkin is the most likely to win the best supporting actor this time. He has already won the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance in the movie 'A Real Pain'. So, he has a higher chance of winning the Oscar.

In addition, the Brazilian film 'I'm Still Here' has the potential to be the best film in the international feature film category. Again, 'Emilia Perez' is also on this list. The animation film 'Flow' has already won the Golden Globe Award. Therefore, critics believe that it has the potential to be the best animated feature film at the Oscars. Again, The Hollywood Reporter has put ‘The Wild Robot’ ahead of the list of the best in this list.
