Women's Under-19 Asia Cup: Bangladesh beat Malaysia by 120 runs
In the ongoing Women's Under-19 Asia Cup, Bangladesh on Tuesday (December 17) bowled out host Malaysia for a mere 29 runs in their last match of the group stage, winning by a big margin of 120 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh scored 149 runs for the loss of 5 wickets while batting. In reply, Malaysia could not take advantage even after batting for 14.5 overs. They were bowled out for 29 runs.
With this, Bangladesh women will play the next round of the tournament, Super Four, as group champions with two wins.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. Fahmida Choan and Mosammat Eva shared an opening partnership of 45 runs. Fahmida scored 26 and Eva scored 19 runs. Then Jannatul Mawa took charge of the innings. She played an unbeaten innings of 45 runs off 45 balls with 4 fours. She put on a 62-run partnership with Sadia Akhtar for the 6th wicket. Sadia scored 31 runs off 19 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. As a result, Bangladesh scored 149 runs for 5 wickets.
Later, Malaysia were bowled out for just 29 runs. No batter could reach double figures. Opener Nur Alia Hairun's innings of 5 runs was their highest. Nishita Akter Nishi took 5 wickets for just 3 runs in 3.5 overs. Habiba Islam also took 3 wickets and Anisa Soba took 2 wickets. Mawa was named the man of the match.
