England beat India by 27 runs in 747-run thriller at Lord's to seal series

In a high-scoring series decider at Lord's on Sunday, England defeated India by 27 runs to clinch the three-match ODI series 2-1. Both teams had three top-order batsmen crossing fifty, with one centurion each, but India fell short despite a strong chase.

After winning the toss and batting first, England posted a mammoth 387 for 3 in 50 overs — their highest total against India in ODIs. England raced to 82 runs in the final five overs.

In reply, India were well-placed at 253 for 1 in 38 overs, needing 135 runs from 72 balls with nine wickets in hand. But Rohit Sharma's dismissal triggered a collapse, and India finished on 360 for 7.

Rohit silenced his critics with a spectacular 138 off 110 balls, hitting 17 fours and five sixes. He shared a 147-run opening stand with Shubman Gill (77) and a century partnership with Virat Kohli (74 off 60).

Ben Duckett top-scored for England with 141 off 135 balls (18 fours, one six). He added 192 for the first wicket with Jake Bethell, who made 91 off 93 balls. Bethell also took the key wicket of Rohit and was named Player of the Match.

Sam Curran was England's best bowler with 4 for 75. The total of 747 runs is the highest in any Lord's ODI, surpassing the 655 runs scored in the England-South Africa match last year. England's Joe Root was named Player of the Series for his 249 runs across three matches.

Earlier, England had won the T20I series 4-0.
