Entry ban imposed on officials appointed during Mamata era in offices
A major decision has been taken at the administrative level before the formation of the new government in West Bengal. Retired bureaucrats appointed during the tenure of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have been banned from entering offices in various departments of the state.
Indian media NDTV reported that those officials are no longer being allowed to enter the offices from Wednesday. The order has been communicated verbally to the secretaries of the concerned departments.
The report states that Chief Secretary Dushmanta Nariyala has issued an order in this regard. This decision will be effective until the new government is formed.
According to official sources, some retired officials who were advisors in various departments have already resigned and have also vacated their official residences.
In addition, the Chief Secretary has instructed all departments to be careful in preserving important documents and it has been said that documents cannot be taken out of the office under any circumstances.
Financial advisors have also been asked to increase vigilance in preparing document lists and administrative work.
The decision has been the subject of renewed debate in the Indian political arena following the recent election results. The report said that the Bharatiya Janata Party won a landslide victory in the recent assembly elections, while the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress won relatively few seats.
Preparations are underway for the swearing-in of the new government on May 9.
