EU extends condolences over earthquake casualties in Bangladesh

The European Union (EU) has expressed deep sorrow, condolences, and solidarity over the loss of lives and injuries caused by Friday’s earthquake in Bangladesh.

In a message sent on Saturday, November 22, the EU Delegation in Dhaka conveyed its condolences.

According to the EU statement, the organisation extends its deepest sympathy to those affected by yesterday’s earthquake, as well as to their families and all victims of the disaster.

Earlier on Friday, Pakistan, the United Nations, the United States, and the BIMSTEC Secretariat issued separate statements expressing profound grief, sympathy, and solidarity over the deaths and injuries resulting from the earthquake.

In a statement on social media, the UN office in Bangladesh said it is closely monitoring the situation and expressed solidarity and deep condolences to all those affected.

The US Embassy in Dhaka also conveyed heartfelt condolences in a message to all who were impacted by the earthquake.

At least 10 people were killed and more than two hundred others injured when a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Dhaka and several surrounding districts on Friday morning.
