Ex-Chhatra Dal leader shot dead in Khulna

A local Chhatra Dal Leader was fatally shot dead in public in Khulna city.

The incident took place around 11:30am in front of KDA Kalpataru Market in the Daulatpur area in this morning (March 16).

The deceased, Rashikul Alam Rashu, was a former organising secretary of the BNP-affiliated Chhatra Dal in Daulatpur Thana and later associated with the Jubo Dal.

It is not immediately clear if he held any position in the organisation at the time of his death.

The crime took place near a fire service office, with Khulna Agricultural College and several shops and an oil mill nearby.

According to locals, there were several people in the area when the shooting occurred.

Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station, confirmed about the shooting. He said, "Two men had allegedly scouted the area earlier before opening fire and fleeing."

Police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
