Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is alive and in good health, a close aide confirmed Sunday (March 1), dismissing reports that he had been killed in recent US and Israeli airstrikes.

The clarification follows widespread speculation circulating in international media amid escalating military operations across Iran. Turkey-based Anadolu Agency first reported the adviser’s remarks.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the aide said he had directly contacted Ahmadinejad. “I spoke with him. He is completely fine,” the adviser stated.

According to the source, a building used for Ahmadinejad’s security operations was struck on Saturday. Three members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who were assigned as his bodyguards, were killed in the attack. However, Ahmadinejad’s private residence — located approximately 100 meters from the targeted facility — was not hit and remains undamaged.

Earlier reports had suggested the former president was among high-profile casualties in the air campaign. The adviser’s statement effectively puts those claims to rest.

Ahmadinejad served as Iran’s president from 2005 to 2013 and remains a prominent political figure in the country.
