Ex-Superman actor Dean Cain to join as US ICE agent
Dean Cain, best known for his role as Superman in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has announced that he will soon be joining the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as an officer.
The 59-year-old actor made the announcement in a video posted to his Instagram account on Wednesday (August 6). “I believe it's more important to help protect Americans by serving alongside our first responders than to simply talk about it,” Cain said in the video. “So, I'm joining.”
In his message, Cain also encouraged fellow citizens to consider a career with ICE, highlighting the agency’s salary structure and benefits. He later appeared on Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime, where he confirmed, “I will be sworn in as an ICE agent very soon.”
“This country was built by patriots who did what was right, even when it wasn’t popular,” Cain added. “I believe this is the right thing to do.”
Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, later confirmed the development in a statement. “Dean Cain will be sworn in as an ICE officer next month,” she said, commending his decision to serve.
Cain, a longtime supporter of former President Donald Trump, has been vocal in his political views. He backed Trump in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections. In a recent interview with 'Variety', Cain described Trump as “a compassionate, extraordinary, and generous person,” and referred to their relationship as a lasting friendship.
