Farhan Ali Wahid shines in Boreham Wood jersey
Farhan Ali Wahid, a Bangladeshi-origin footballer born in England, delivered an impressive performance in his first start for Boreham Wood. The 19-year-old left winger scored one goal and provided an assist in a 5-2 victory over Leeds United's Under-21 side, earning him recognition as one of the best players on the pitch.
The two teams faced each other at Meadow Park in the National League Cup Group C match on Monday night. In the 41st minute, Farhan scored his first goal for Boreham Wood with a precise finish from inside the box. He then played a key role in Taran Allarakhia's goal in first-half stoppage time.
Farhan also displayed his individual skill in the 82nd minute. He picked up the ball from midfield and drove forward, beating a defender with a clever move before taking a shot, but the Leeds goalkeeper made an excellent save to deny him a potential second goal.
Impressed by Farhan's performance, Boreham Wood wrote in their match report, "Farhan Ali Wahid has shone in his first start. His effortless dribbling, intelligent short passes and ability to quickly regain possession were a pleasure to watch."
Farhan joined fifth-tier club Boreham Wood on loan from Premier League club Fulham earlier this month. The winger, who joined Fulham's academy at the age of 12, scored seven goals in 17 matches for the Under-18 side. He later caught attention with six goals and nine assists in 21 matches for the Under-21 side, and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2025.
Under the loan agreement, the talented Bangladeshi-origin footballer will play for Boreham Wood for the entirety of the 2026-27 season. If all goes well, he could also be seen in the Bangladesh national team in the next transfer window.
