Father stabbed to death by son over family dispute in Srimangal

An elderly man was stabbed to death by his son in a family dispute in Srimangal, Moulvibazar. His other son was seriously injured in the incident and his condition is critical.

The incident took place in the Gazipur Ansar Camp area of ​​Kalapur Union in Srimangal on Wednesday afternoon (April 15).

The deceased Akal Mia, 77, and the injured Shahidur Mia, 45, are members of the same family.

According to police and local sources, the younger son Moshik Mia had an argument with his father Akal Mia and elder brother Shahidur Mia over a family matter. At one point, Moshik Mia got angry and stabbed both of them.

Later, locals rescued them in serious condition and took them to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared Akal Mia dead. Since the injured Shahidur Mia's condition was serious, he was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

In this regard, Srimangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahirul Islam Munna said that the body has been kept at Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The incident is being investigated and necessary legal action is being taken against the accused.
