FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on Fakirerpool Young Men's Club in Dhaka for failing to pay overdue wages to Uzbek footballer Sardor Zakhonov. As a result, the club is barred from signing new players in the current transfer window until they clear the outstanding amount of approximately Tk25 lakh.

Ahmad Ali, the general secretary of the club, said, "We are eager to resolve this issue swiftly as we are determined to take part in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League."

"The unpaid wages for Zakhonov's six-month period are the responsibility of the previous committee, not the current one," he added.

When asked if the club had reached out to FIFA before the ban, the general secretary simply responded, "No."

However, a club official, speaking anonymously, revealed that "During the middle of last season, five foreign players and one foreign coach left the club without prior notice, and the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) was notified about it."

It’s important to highlight that, following the change of government in August 2024, a new committee took charge of the club, replacing the previous one. The new committee opted to release foreign players with high salaries, whose contracts were meant to run for eight months and replaced them with two new foreign players on match-based contracts.
