FIFA to sell World Cup final pitch grass as souvenirs
FIFA has taken a new initiative to generate additional revenue from the World Cup by selling pieces of grass from the pitch used in the 2026 World Cup final as collectable souvenirs.
The final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New York on July 19. After the match, specific sections of the pitch will be preserved in acrylic cases and sold as memorabilia, priced at $450 (approximately Tk 55,000).
Each souvenir will contain an authentic piece of grass from the final pitch. FIFA has not yet clarified whether the listed measurements—17.5 × 17.5 × 17.7—refer to inches, centimetres or millimetres.
The souvenirs will be shipped after the final. Initially, only residents of the US and Europe will be able to purchase them.
