Finance Ministry warns over using Adviser’s fake video

The Ministry of Finance has said that a fake video created using the image and AI-generated voice of interim government’s Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has been circulating on social media. The ministry issued an urgent press release on Sunday, November 16, warning the public about the matter.

The statement said a vested quarter is using the adviser’s visual in their advertisements or campaigns on Facebook to spread misleading and baseless content. The Finance Ministry or the adviser has no connection with the video. It is presumed that the video was made using AI voice alteration and image insertion to mislead the public.

The ministry said steps have begun to remove the fake video and take legal action against those involved. It also urged citizens not to be deceived by misleading videos or news on social media and not to engage in any financial transactions without verifying authenticity.

The ministry further said that such fake content is occasionally spread to mislead the general public. Therefore, everyone is urged to remain aware and cautious.
